Welcome to Aptos Little League Registration

2021 Spring Season Overview -

Registration for Aptos Little League 2021 Spring Season is now open.

Aptos Little League Families,

The Board of Directors is excited to announce the opening of registration for the start of the Spring 2021 season!  There has been a lot of work put forth in preparation for this day.  While this season will look and feel different than the past, the game of baseball will be the same.  Please read this message and all related registration information carefully to understand how this season will be operated.

Beginning December 14th, 2020, and then updated on January 25, 2021 after the Regional Stay-at-Home Order ended, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) permitted youth sports training, conditioning and physical education under specific circumstances.  Here is CDPH Guidelines for Youth Sports.

As of today, Monday, 2/15/21, Santa Cruz County is designated in the Widespread Tier (Purple).  In this Purple Tier, both the State of California and the Santa Cruz Public Health Department permit a baseball clinic to be conducted.  A baseball clinic with a cohort team can include any & all baseball related training including throwing, catching, hitting, situational play and fun games while proper mitigation techniques are established. This includes social distancing, wearing a face covering, proper sanitizing among others.  So today, we are permitted to coordinate a baseball clinic.

As mentioned, we are following the California Department of Public Health guidelines for youth sports which classifies baseball as an outdoor moderate-contact sport.  We will be permitted to play competitive scrimmages & regular season games when our county moves into the designated Substantial Tier (Red).

For lower divisions (AA/A/Farm & T-ball), our registration process will be placing players in cohort teams to start the season.  For upper divisions (AAA/Majors/Intermediate 50/70), cohort teams will be formed by a draft process.  The assembled cohort teams will begin the season in the baseball clinic mode.  This will essentially look like team practices.  If/when the county moves into the Substantial Tier (Red), we will convert into a regular season with scheduled games & scrimmages.  This is the plan for Spring 2021.

Please understand, by registering your player(s) for the Aptos Little League Spring 2021 season, you are committing to the entire season.  This includes both the baseball clinic & regular season.  This pandemic has been fast and fluid and impossible to predict.  There may be a situation in which we remain in baseball clinic mode during the entire Spring season.  There may also be a situation, if the health conditions worsen in our county, where we need to suspend all related baseball activity.  These are real circumstances that should be understood by our members upfront.  See below for more information about our Refund Policy.

The health & safety of our league members, volunteers, coaches and players is our utmost priority this season.  It is our community responsibility to maintain a healthy & safe playing environment.  This will include implementation and oversight of our league policies and procedures.  Please review our Health & Safety Protocol and guidelines for ‘Return to Play'.   We are committed to providing a safe & comfortable atmosphere for which to play baseball.

In close, we are excited to open registration today for the Spring 2021 Aptos Little League season.  And we are excited about playing some baseball again!
